Active4Today – Young People Bursary
Active4Today are providing bursaries for young people which will enable successful applicants to use gym, swim and selected fitness sessions at leisure centres in Newark, Southwell, Blidworth or Boughton. This bursary recognises the positive effect that being physically active has on our mental health. By providing the opportunity to 20 young people they are hoping they can experience this for themselves and kick start a lifelong relationship with physical activity.
Bursaries are available to young people
- Aged 12-16 years (school years 7-11)
- Who have an allocated school place within the district of Newark and Sherwood
- Who reside in the district of Newark and Sherwood
- Who have been identified as needing additional mental health support, and are working with a trusted partner*

All applicants must have the support of the organisation making the referral and of their parent/carer so they have the best chance possible of engaging in physical activity (gym, swim and selected fitness classes) throughout the 12 month period.
Successful applicants will be asked to provide feedback up to 4 times throughout the year, this could be in the format of monitoring/ promotional conversations, surveys or questionnaires, please note that all information can be anonymised if requested.
Application forms should be completed and returned to by email to sportsdevelopment@active4today.co.uk before the closing date of Friday 12th September 2025. A panel will then meet to discuss applications before allocating places and notifying successful candidates no later than the end of October 2025.
