Better Housing, Better Health
National Energy Foundation is a charity funded by the National Grid until January 2026. They are working on the Better Housing, Better Health (BHBH) scheme currently. For this scheme there is no eligible criteria – all can get in contact.
As part of the BHBH service they:
- Have a free helpline number where the team can give valuable tips on how to stay warm at home, provide free home energy visits, sign up those in need of additional support to the Priority Services Register and access grants for energy efficiency grant funding.
- Offer comprehensive case management service for residents going through energy efficiency funding for insulation or heating system replacements. BHBH work closely with a network of over 60 Trust Mark registered and fully vetted installers across the country.
- Offer small measures grant where they can provide fully funded energy efficiency items to reduce energy bills. This can cover things like draught exclusion measures, emergency heaters, electric blankets, thermal curtains and dehumidifiers for damp and mould issues. This is very easy to access, and their advisors can run through what is available and will help complete applications.
- Offer a free home energy visit service where one of the advisors goes out to your home and can help with energy bills, checking what insulation is already present, check the heating system type and age and explain cost savings from different tips and tricks around the home.
- Issue Emergency Fuel Vouchers for anyone on a prepayment meter who is struggling to top up. No eligibility criteria – to qualify the resident pays for energy by prepayment meter.
